“I'm writing this to share with those that have been told they will need to have eye surgery in order to remove a cataract. I was informed of my need for this surgery almost three years ago. I was concerned at first, partly because I didn't quite know what to expect, not knowing anyone close to me who had ever had this procedure. Dr. Mizoguchi took time to explain, in detail, exactly what the procedure would entail. This talk that we had helped me not only to be aware of what was going to happen, but to buld a confidence with Dr. Mizoguchi that gave me a complete feeling of trust that he knew what he was doing. Knowing the doctor had successfully performed this procedure many times before, increased my trust in him.
By the time the day arrived to go to the hospital in Fortuna for the surgery, I was confident that Dr. Mizoguchi was going to perform my procedure with success. I was so sure of this that I wouldn't let the nurse give me a shot to relax me. I truly didn't need nor want it. During the surgery, I never felt anything. It went as smooth as you can imagine, to my delight. I've had cataracts removed from both of my eyes, and to this day I have not had one single problem. I highly recommend the good doctor to everyone that tells me they have been informed that they have cataracts.

I was Blind and now I See... Dr. Mizoguchi restored my vision four years ago, and is still keeping blindness at bay. The internet is not large enough to express to all the faith I have in Dr. M. I cannot begin to express my gratitude, admiration, or thanks to this wonderful physician. And not to forget his staff - I would adopt them all if they would let me. All have seen to my needs and taken great care of me. Thank you so much!

I'm Larry, a 66-year-old man who has worn glasses since childhood (for nearsightedness). I was a patient of Dr. Michael B. Mizoguchi of Humboldt Eye Associates in November of 2012 for cataract surgery in both eyes. The surgeries went much more quickly and worry-free than I could have anticipated, even after hearing those reassurances from friends and other patients.
I am pleased to report that Dr. Mizoguchi, and all members of his staff, displayed an exemplary professionalism combined with a refreshing sense of genuineness and personal care - to me and each patient I had a chance to observe or talk to, even on a particularly late and busy afternoon when the office had to remain open after hours to accommodate all scheduled and some unscheduled visits. All questions and concerns I had, from before the surgery and through the entire post-op period, were addressed with promptness, clarity and compassion by all concerned, both in person and over the telephone.
What a remarkable blessing to see better than I ever remember seeing in my life. I even had the eye correction restriction lifted from my driver's license! I still need reading glasses for close work, but that's a small price to pay. (I even quipped to the doctor that I almost wished I had two more eyes so we could do it again - he got a kick out of that!)

I was referred to Dr. Mizoguchi because of glaucoma. From the day I started seeing him I was treated with great care by Dr. Mizoguchi and his wonderful staff. My treatment was thorough and Dr. Miz always listened to my concerns and updates of my condition. In the summer of 2010, I experienced sharp drop of vision in my right eye. Dr. Mizoguchi correctly identified that there was something bigger than glaucoma going on and ordered an MRI which showed a meningioma that had grown around the right eye optic nerve and was causing my loss of vision! If Dr. M had not taken the time every time I saw him to listen and ask questions, take tests and have the knowledge to go the next step, I would be blind in my right eye.
Quick and corrrect decisions were made on my behalf, surgery and radiation were required but two years later, I am working full time, getting a little more vision in my right eye as time goes by. I have a huge amount of gratitude to Dr. Mizoguchi and his staff. They work tirelessly with patients who have serious eye issues. Always gracious, always listening and caring.

As an artist, my eyes are essential. I wouldn't trust my eye health to any one but Dr. Michael B. Mizoguchi and his kind and professional staff. When I needed cataract surgery in both eyes, Dr. Mizoguchi went over all the risks, explained the procedure in detail, and thoroughly described what to expect during and after surgery. He made me feel like a partner in planning my eye health; his explanations never felt abbreviated or rushed. Dr. Mizoguchi is a pioneering Fellow in a new cataract procedure. By making a stepped lateral incision (which requires great care and skill), the resulting inner flap closes the opening once the lens is inserted. No bleeding, no leakage, and no stitches. I never felt any pain at any time during or after the operation, just a wild light show as the calcified lens was being removed.
The replacement lenses have UV filters, colors are brighter and truer than my original vision, glare has been substantially reduced (I never wear sunglasses any more) and I can see better than 20/20 (my Myopia was so bad I was nearly legally blind without glasses). My vision is so very important in my life, Dr. Mizoguchi's cataract surgery has been life changing for me. I highly recommend him for anyone needing the very best eye care (all of us).
